Mother Earth

Why did you do this to me?

You cut me open

And use my blood to pollute me further

A thick smog

Like wool over my eyes

I can’t see any longer

My waters

They run deep

But so do the scars you have given me

You pour your waste in my waters

You dump oil in my streams

You put debris in my oceans

And you maim your siblings as you do it

They struggle against plastic muzzles in the water

Poisoned food in their mouths

You hurt me

And your fellow species

But I will forgive you

Again and again

Because Mother Earth is patient

She is gracious

She loves her children

But if this keeps happening

There will be no more Mother Earth to forgive you

And it will be your fault.
